Forks of the credit

I would like to take this opportunity to exploit my best friend by posting her modeling debut pictures and saying how she did a wonderful job at being my model for a day last year!  I had a project to do for class and called her up and told her "hey guess what, I'm giving you red rubber rain boots and you're going to jump in puddles while I do shutter speed pictures for an assignment!" Ha-ha Puddles and suspenders she happily obliged.  I picked her up and off we went to Chinguacousy park, to find that all the rain we had in the morning had already dried up leaving this one tiny puddle in the parking lot! Ha-ha!  Lisa jumped several times til she was no longer jumping in a clear puddle of water but a yucky mud puddle.  Seeing as we had exhausted the park after strolling thru the mini farm we drove up to the forks of the credit to take some more fun pics.  I made her roll around in a field of dandelions til her allergies kicked in.  Oooh the things we do to get the shot! ;)

School Project

I am currently enrolled in Wedding level 1 photography in night school; for those of you who don't know, those of you who do and I guess the rest of you who don't care but have nothing better to do than read my blog :) Ha!  I am finally doing something in school where I want to be doing it and there is some kind of structure to get where I am going 'and' they are not just random classes here and there.  I also get a certificate at the end of it all.. w0000weeee!! hehe! My last project that I handed in (besides this blog; maybe I should write some nice things about my teacher here..hrmm.. lol.. good idea!  Rewind! "My great, funny, sometimes on baby brain (yes, she is pregnant) but none the less extremely entertaining" teacher! lol) gave us a Wedding Packages assignment where we had to create a price list of different wedding packages to offer to clients.  I really liked the way mine turned out so I decided to take a picture and share it with the world.  Mind you this is an assignment and not for real! :)

Cheers!

*Please note photo creds. to my friends blog "the glass slipper" for letting me use some wedding pictures to make my assignment really pop!

Dashkitchen

Map Directions

My Uncle, Owner and Chef, hauling watermelons during "Taste of the Danforth"

"If you're not Dutch, you're not much" :P as my Opa would say.  I felt compelled to throw on the Holland jersey to represent!

Dashkitchen, located on the Danforth is a cozy restaurant serving fabulous gourmet food designed for the on-the-go lifestyle.  My Uncle Andre owns and operates this ridiculously yummy hot spot to which I help out whenever I have free time.  I took some pictures for his website and decided to post some here for your viewing pleasure.  Every year Dashkitchen par-takes in the annual "Taste of the Danforth", and last year was my first year helping out.  There were droves of people and it was a ton of fun!  The watermelons were surprising the top seller as it was a very hot weekend.  I highly recommend eating there one day and not on a biased opinion!  What I can say is it truly has a delicious selection of food items that you will be missing out on!

Cheers,
Lemming

Speed of Light

Not thee coolest picture ever..But.. it is still special to me!  This is the first time I tried to slow shutter speed to let the light trails stream across the Highway.  I would save different types of photo styles I would like to try in a folder whenever I would come across something I would like; streaming tail lights was one of them.  It was freezing cold out side on a February night with not many cars until this shot. I set up my tripod with my friend on a bridge that crossed over the 407 and 401.  Because I didn't know what the heck I was doing it took forever!  The first shot I had was with 1-3 cars and I thought that was cool! Ha-ha  (but it really wasn't just the concept of it all)
After a few tries this was my end result! Yay!

Ginger

It would only be a matter of time before something would be posted about my cat.  Since she occupies A LOT of my time I tend to take many random pictures following her around the house Ha-ha.  No, I am not a crazy cat lady *fingers crossed*...I hope..yet..eek!  Her name is Ginger, as she was very orange when my family first rescued her from an empty lot that was slotted to be turned into a fire station behind the local pet value.  There was a newspaper article on how an older man would go everyday after work to the pet value and buy tins of food and go out back and feed the 50 some odd stray cats and kittens that lived back there. It was mentioned that if anyone wanted any of the cats to meet the old man to catch them as they were going to be captured and euthanized or if a kitten brought to the pound.  My mom picked her out she was the tiniest one and a quick little bugger.  Love her! My feisty lil furball <3

Who is Lemming?

This story has been told many times Ha-ha! And I am laughing now in advance because I can already envision my best friend Lisa's face shaking her head at me.  In high school everyone has a nick name..mine was Lemming.  So the story begins: I would like to claim that I was a particularly bright student.  I was an honor roll student excelling in a majority of my classes.  Don't let that fool you though.  I was refered to by my friends as "stunner", lines usually consisting of "oohh lemming!" followed by a chuckle.  Not "getting" the joke, or understanding the hidden meaning in stories earned me the label of Stunner. One particular evening there was a house party at my buddy's place. Amidst drinking and socializing I was asked how did I get the name "Lemming"?  I very proudly explained that "see everyone here has 2 syllable last names" and proceeded to clap to the syllables, "Yong-set, Tou-chie, Sol-ski", and that our friends with one syllable last names just sounded funny; like our friend Brian Shaw, we called him "Shaw-zie" so for me.. I got "Lem-ming" LOL.  Beaming I look around to see my best friends Lisa and Kathy with the biggest screw eyes ever burst out laughing and felt the need to quickly correct my "stunner" moment with the "correct" story!  Lemming! Is because Lemming walks around the hallways with her big back back in a rush to get to her next class, head down, full determination! ....Like the VIDEO GAME!...LEMMINGS! Baa-Ha-Ha!!  As you can see now I had the screwface...WHAT?! Ha-ha I thought it was all this time because of 2 syllables!!!

So "who is Lemming" now that you've come to understand the name?  I am someone who takes great pride in my work and loves adventure!  I have backpacked all over Europe and other countries, I love dancing and have been with HPM for 8 years performing at the local Carabram and Carasauga events.  I throughly enjoy learning and have been in night school since I can remember pursuing courses in languages to electrical fundametals to my passionate hobby, photography.  I love making memories and capturing moments, documenting life as it unfolds.

Blogging...Really?!...

Welcome my minions, to my "first blog post" muhaha!.....No?! Lame? Oh gosh I don't know what to write here. ha! But I'm sure once I start it will spew out like word vomit.
Since this is the beginning of something wonderful, I thought I'd share something from the beginning, something wonderful.  These are my parents, dear to my heart and now here to be shared with you.  At a young age I enjoyed photography, a hobby I seem to have inherited from my delightful folks.  Avid photographers themselves I seem to have developed a keen interest in also carrying a camera with me where ever I may go.  I hope to share with you all a peek into my life and travels thru the pictures I will bestow upon you.

Enjoy,
Nicole (or as my friends call me....Lemming) :P
